Don Jones Memorial Scholarship

In honor of the art therapy pioneer Don Jones, each year one undergraduate and one graduate level student will be awarded a scholarship to attend the BATA Symposium


Applications are now being accepted for the Buckeye Art Therapy Association (BATA) Don Jones Memorial Student Scholarship to assist students in attending the annual BATA Symposium. The scholarship award includes the cost of student registration to the symposium and a stipend of $150 to help with travel, room & board.  Finances collected through fundraising efforts at previous symposiums fund student scholarships.


This year’s Symposium "Art Therapy as a Path to Healing"  will feature art therapist Elizabeth Warson, PhD, ATR-BC, LPC, NCC .  For more information please visit: www.batasymposium.org.


 BATA is able to offer two scholarships:

  • an undergraduate student enrolled in a pre-art therapy/art therapy program
  • a graduate student enrolled in a Masters Art Therapy educational program.
Requirements for applicants include:
  • Being a student enrolled in a pre-art therapy or art therapy program at the bachelor or graduate level;
  • Being a current student or friend member, or joined BATA at the time of application.

Applications should include:

  • A cover letter including name, address, e-mail, phone number, current school, and course of study;
  • A copy of your student ID
  • A letter of support from a faculty member;
  • A brief essay (200-250 words) on the importance of receiving this scholarship and how attending the BATA Symposium will benefit your studies.

Application deadline is May 13, 2016 and will be reviewed on May 14, 2016. 

Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.

Scholarship recipients will be notified by email no later than June 12, 2016.
