Military Sensitivity Training Offered

Star Behavioral Health Providers (SBHP) is offering free evidence-based training to help licensed Ohio behavioral health providers meet the needs of the state’s service members and their families. Participants who complete the training will be listed on a comprehensive provider registry that will serve as a valuable resource for service members, families, and referring professionals in and outside the military.

SBHP is a new initiative in Ohio developed through a collaboration with the Ohio National Guard, Ohio Department of Veterans Services, Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, The Ohio State University, American Red Cross, OhioCares, the Military Family Research Institute at Purdue University and the Center for Deployment Psychology.

The training is divided into three tiers. Tier One training, which includes an optional online session and a required one daylong classroom session, provides an introduction to military culture, information about the deployment cycle and the effect of the deployment cycle on service members and their families.

Upcoming Tier One training opportunities include:

Dayton: April 1

Toledo area: April 15

Cincinnati: April 29

Akron: May 20

Columbus: June 3

Register today for one of these free trainings which include continuing education credit.
